Two female suspects were arrested by Culver City Police Department officers after an argument led to the discharging of a firearm.
According to a statement by the CCPD, “On August 19th at 9:10 pm, Culver City Officers responded to the area of Overland Ave and Maytime Lane regarding an Unknown Trouble. The caller was heard screaming ‘someone has a gun,’ and ‘they’re shooting, call the police.’ Culver City Officers were in the area at the time of the call. They heard a gunshot and observed two vehicles involved in a possible road rage, both driving erratically.”
CCPD officers discovered one of the vehicles involved in the incident at the entrance to the Lakeside Village Condominiums complex, located at 15000 Summertime Lane.
“The suspects abandoned the vehicle, and a perimeter was established within the complex,” reads the statement. “Officers met with the reporting party/victims who advised that an argument began in the area of the mall and escalated when the female suspects brandished and ultimately discharged a firearm.”
Two female suspects were arrested without incident, and a loaded semi-automatic handgun was found on the scene. In addition, officers found a discharged .380 caliber expended projectile.
The CCPD thanked the Beverly Hills Police Department, Hawthorne Police, El Segundo Police Department, Gardena Police Department, Manhattan Beach Police Department, Redondo Beach Police Department, and Culver City Fire Department for their help.
Man arrested for church kitchen stabbing
The CCPD released a statement on Monday, explaining that they arrested a man at the Grace Lutheran Church on Sunday evening after he stabbed another man with kitchen shears.
“On August 20, 2023, at 8:18 pm, Culver City Police Officers responded to a call for service regarding a male subject who was wielding a knife at Grace Lutheran Church, located at 4427 Overland Ave.,” the statement reads. “Officers arrived on scene and located and detained the suspect. They also located the victim at the entry to the church building, who was bleeding because of the attack.”
The CCPD said that Culver City Fire Personnel treated the victim for stab wounds to his neck and back at the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
“The suspect was transported and booked at the Culver City Police Department,” they said. “The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing considerations.”
