Roots rocker Dan Janisch performs regularly at the Cinema Bar, and he told the News about what his sets bring to Culver City…

When did you start playing and performing? When did the band form?

I started playing and performing right around 20 years old.

Describe your sound/style?

I’m a lyrical songwriter. Folks who hear the material often use rock ‘n’ roll, roots, and folk with a twist of western music as a description.

What are your career highlights so far?

The locating, distilling, and writing of the songs will always be the highlight.

What recorded music is available — particularly the most recent?

My music is available at most on line places music is sold. Most recent things are about to be available through my Bandcamp page, at https://danjanisch.bandcamp.com.

Have you performed at Cinema Bar before?

I have performed many times at The Cinema Bar. I have many many memories from the years. I suppose I’d just put them all together and say that it is a wonderful place for original music. The owner and all the staff who works there are so very supportive of musicians such as myself. It’s a great place to hear music. A great place to play music.

What can we expect from the set this time?

I’d like to think, a very positive, welcoming set of songs that invites folks to join us in the various tones/colors of song.

What else do you have coming up?

My next performance will be as part of a really cool music series that takes place at a arts theater called Collage in San Pedro, Sunday, April 6. Info and tickets are available at: https://www.collageartculture.org
