Maisie Vargas of Culver City says she is passionate about performing and loves to dance. She currently studies ballet and jazz with the Westside School of Ballet. She takes ballroom dance in Manhattan Beach. She does aerial arts, like the performers of Cirque de Soleil. She has also performed in several plays and taken part in a singing and dancing troupe that visits and performs at nursing homes. After seeing “The Nutcracker” performed by Westside Ballet of Santa Monica at age three, she begged to take classes. It was her dream to perform in the play. At age 8, this is the first year she is old enough to be a part of it and says she is excited.
Vargas, a Girl Scout for the last five years, has been homeschooled with her two brothers and two sisters throughout her life by her mother. The Vargas family also includes her father, two dogs, a guinea pig and a bird.
