Train/railroad-themed group Sons of the Railroad perform at the Cinema Bar on the third Saturday of every month, which means that they’re there this coming Saturday. Guitarist and vocalist Bobby Ricketts told the News about what they have in store for Culver City…

When did you start playing and performing?

This group started together last year in July. The musicians are Bobby Ricketts, guitar and vox. Arlo Zoos bass and vox. Matt Lee Guitar and vox. Chris Bailey drums and vox. We have known each other for around 40+ years and have all done a ton of playing with other bands, including The Groovy Rednecks, The Skansters, The DI’s, Phast Phreddie and Thee Precisions. Plus all of us have been in multiple groups.

Describe your sound/style?

We play various styles of music, as the songs dictate.

What are your career highlights so far?

Just paying with these incredible people.

What recorded music is available — particularly the most recent?
None. Some things on YouTube, but this is not our real goal.

Have you performed at the Cinema Bar before?

We have been playing there almost every third Saturday night for 18 months.

What can the audience expect from the set this time?

One can expect these styles: Country, blues, standards, reggae, hard rock and jazz. We are called Sons of the Engineers, and all the tunes we perform are named for or about trains and railroads.

What else do you have coming up?

We have October 19 and Dec 21st, both at The Cinema Bar.

Sons of the Engineers performs at 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 19 at the Cinema Bar. Go to thecinemabar.com for more information about the show.
