Men, ages 55 and older, and women, 45 and up, play Sunday mornings at Veterans Park in the Culver City Senior Softball League. New players of all abilities are invited to join in the pickup games, 9 a.m., in December and January, before the start of the 2018 season — when they can be added to team rosters.

Rostered players need not feel obligated to have to participate every Sunday, as managers can get substitutes from the free agent pool during the 10-month season.

About 100 senior softball players play in the slow-pitch league that provides an opportunity for its members to have fun playing a game they love and making new friends.

“Everyone hits, runs, fields, throws and jokes around as if the clock has been turned back to our younger days. We make it safe and fun for everyone,” said league commissioner Rich Jebejian.
