On Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. Wednesday Work Project volunteers gather in B45 to process mailings for area non-profits at 9 a.m. Wednesdays.

Volunteers will label, stuff, seal, collate, stamp, fold, alphabetize, zip code sort, goodie bags, walker, packets—you will done it all. This work is perfect for those who likes busy work and camaraderie with a fun and productive group.

Those seniors looking for a “drop-in” volunteer opportunity that they don’t have to commit to every week, the WWP might be just what you ordered.Call the WWP Hotline at 310-253- 6723 on Tuesdays after 6 p.m. to find out about the next day’s work.

For more information see Jill or Terri at the Senior Center.

Home Delivered Meal Driver

The Senior Center is looking for a dedicated and reliable driver for Mondays for our home delivered meals program. Hot, nutritious meals are delivered to seniors who are homebound and unable to prepare meals on their own. Volunteers use their own car to deliver meals and smiles. Meals are delivered weekdays at lunchtime. You must use your own vehicle and have a clean driving record.

Routes typically take between an hour and hour 1/2 to complete. Shift is estimated to be between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. For more information or inquiries, see the Nutrition Program staff.

Creek Cleanup with Ballona Creek Renaissance

Several times a year, Ballona Creek Renaissance arranges a creek or wetlands cleanup. The group chooses a small section of the creek and asks volunteers to come for 2 or 3 hours on a Saturday morning to remove all the trash and other items that shouldn’t be in the water, or on the banks, bike path or fencing.

This cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. at the bike path entrance at 4995 Centinela Ave., essentially where Centinela and Ballona Creek meet. Volunteers remove only what can be reached from the banks.

They provide plastic gloves, buckets, and assorted tools such as grabbers and rakes. Wear sunblock and closed-toe shoes. Water-resistant shoes or boots can be helpful.

Visit www.ballonacreek.org for more information or just show up for the cleanup!
