The first ever A Taste of the Holidays drew Culver City residents to the business district for music,

sweets, raffles and pictures with Santa Claus.

“It was a great turnout,” owner of The Pod Photography Erika Seress said. “It was really great and a ton of people got their photo taken with Santa Claus.”

Participating in the festivities were Grey Block Pizza, LA Plus LED Lighting, Boost Mobile, The Pod Photography, Big 5, LA Spice, MetaTouch, Six Pax Gym, The Culver-Palms YMCA, Culver Furniture, Carpets Plus, Rosa’s Shop, Allied Model Trains, Culver City News, Simply Grooming, A1 Jewelry, Boulevard Music, Culver-Palms Animal Hospital and Apex Aquarium, Pho Sho and Samy’s Camera.

Each business offered a holiday treat. Samy’s Camera allowed people to take free photos with Santa Claus, which included 50 holiday cards. There were also Christmas carolers at Samy’s singing some holiday classics. Among the other treats and promotions by the local businesses were dinner specials, free workshops, free BMI testing, yummy treats, free messages, free photo shoots and many discounts.

Seress, who offered free workshops to lead into her “Workshop for Beginners” on Jan. 12 was also promoting her book “The Parent’s Pocket Guide: Taking Kids and Family Photos” expressed her satisfaction with the event and is excited about the community’s reaction to both the Halloween event and this week’s holiday celebration.

“What we have really learned from doing these events is that the community loves it,” Seress said. “They love that there is a place where they can come out and they can meet the owners of the restaurants where they eat.”

Culver Village plans to continue organizing outing opportunities for residents to come out and enjoy themselves.

“I think it is really exciting to see all the activity that we have generated on these blocks in just a few months,” Publisher for Culver City News/Blue Pacific said. “We are really working as a team here: we have a really good neighborhood and everyone has been working together. We are trying to get Culver Village known as a walking destination and shopping destination for people to come to.”
