There are numerous Panini Kabob Grill locations throughout Southern California, though we’ve only been to the one in Culver City and can’t speak with any authority beyond that. Still, the Culver branch is dripping with class and quality, and we don’t have any reason to believe that the other venue are any different.

“PKG is proud to prepare healthier Mediterranean food from a true scratch kitchen for all to enjoy,” they say online. “We are committed to making our food in-house from scratch every day, with fresh and high-quality ingredients delivered seven days a week. All are proudly made in-house every day, from the freshly grilled kabobs to the homemade soups and even down to the refreshing salad dressings.”

It’s reassuring to know that the quality isn’t restricted to the decor, and the attentiveness of the staff (though both of those things are given the appropriate level of care and attention).

“Each kabob is prepared with healthy proteins like ABF (antibiotic and hormone-free) chicken, all-natural beef, sustainably raised fresh Atlantic salmon, organic tofu, and elder mushrooms,” they say. “They not only TASTE better but are better for you versus proteins loaded with chemicals and preservatives. Each kabob is grilled to perfection upon order. We always prepare our food from scratch daily with exceptional quality, fresh ingredients. Our food never sits around, waiting to be warmed up, but is made as soon as you place your order for homemade taste and quality.”

With the knowledge that the ingredients are carefully chosen by the staff, literally everything on the menu looks spectacular. The open kitchen also generates the most tantalizing of scents when wandering into the joint. The whole thing grabs you by the senses and gives you a good shake, and that’s before you’ve even ordered.

We opted for the Fresh Atlantic Salmon Kabob, because we were in the mood for something fishy, and salmon on skewers in Mediterranean restaurants is often one of the more intriguing items on the menu. Such was the case here.

Served on a bed of soft, flavorful rice, the herb-crusted salmon is also served with the grilled vegetables that it was on the stick with. That means chunks of charred onion and juicy green pepper, all of which enhances the entire dish.

The salmon is exquisite; oily and meaty, flaky and melt-in-your-mouth, every bite is a fresh sensation. It all works so beautifully together, proving that these people know their stuff.
