City Council members, because of our recent city council race, this has been a time of celebration for some, and a time of frustration and disappointment for others. I regret this, but it’s understandable. I hope that soon we as a community can come together over our commitment to the well-being of our city and its residents, and also celebrate the democratic process of which we’ve been a part.
There is no way to adequately thank city council members for your service to this city. For all the time you dedicate to focusing on the issues and meeting with residents. You spend countless hours preparing for city council meetings, presiding during those city council meetings, thinking on your feet during those meetings. You spend countless hours out in the public at events—hopefully enjoying yourselves too!
Here are just a few of the reasons I thank you:
Jeff Cooper, thank you for extending our period of time to review the Inglewood Oil Field Draft EIR. Jim Clarke, thank you for voting in favor of bringing electricity derived from 100% renewable energy to Culver City, and for all the effort you put into our Centennial Celebration. Goran Erickson, thank you for your penetrating questions that at times have resulted in new ways of looking at the subject at hand. Meghan Sahli Wells, thank you for doing everything in your power to protect us from the Inglewood Oil Field and for your focus on the needs of renters. Thomas Small, thank you for the thoughtfulness you bring to deliberations as well as your focus on the arts, bringing beauty to our residents.
