DID YOU KNOW: Riders of the new Metro Express Line will soon cruise alongside the former site of the “Laugh Factory.” The once world renown Hal Roach Studios was located at 8822 Washington Blvd. and it’s stages ran alongside what is now the brand new elevated portion of the Metro Express Line on National Boulevard. Producer and Director Hal Roach has been credited for producing some of the most hysterical comedy films and shorts made during the past century, many of them shot on location right here in Culver City. These include the “Our Gang, Little Rascals” and “Laurel and Hardy” series. Today located under a large shade tree on the breezy south west corner at the intersection of National and Washington Boulevards is a marker placed there by the Sons of the Desert to commemorate this bastion of family entertainment inscribed “Site of the Hal Roach Studios, Laugh Factory to the World, 1919 -1963.”
