ALIANA EVENTS – UNICI CASA, a commercial for this Culver City business was shot on location at 9461 Jefferson Blvd. on Monday, 10. UNICI CASA is comprised of three special areas that can be used individually or as one spectacular event space and was designed and built by architect & designer, Michael R. Foroutan.

COUGAR TOWN, the TV series, filmed in the Lamarr Avenue cul-de-sac, Tuesday, Sept. 11. “Cougar Town” the former hit ABC TV series has moved to TBS and the new season is to start airing early 2013. Courteney Cox stars as Jules Cobb in her Golden Globe® nominated role as a recently divorced mom in her forties facing the often humorous challenges of life’s next chapter.

TOSH.O, Daniel Tosh star of Comedy Central’s “Tosh.O” filmed a segment for an upcoming episode at a residence on Segrell Way, Wednesday, Aug 12.  “Tosh.O” is filmed in Culver City at Hayden Studios on 3555 Hayden Avenue. HOW TO LIVE WITH YOUR PARENTS, TV series, filmed at Linwood E. Howe Elementary School, 4100 Irving Pl. and at Culver Plaza in front of the Culver Hotel on Friday, Sept. 14. “How to Live with Your Parents” is a new ABC TV series starring Sarah Chalke (“Scrubs,” “Cougar Town”) as a divorced mother who moves in with her parents. Produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.

KIA, car commercial was filmed at Nooshin, Inc, the brick building at Lindblade Street, Tuesday – Saturday, Sept. 11 – 15.

DID YOU KNOW: The Culver City Historical Society will present “Meet Me In Culver City,” a celebration to honor Culver City’s 95th anniversary, on Sunday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Historic Culver Hotel, 9400 Culver Blvd.

Margaret O’Brien, legendary Oscar-winning icon from MGM, is serving as Honorary Chair of the event and will be honored with a commendation from the Culver City Council. O’Brien was the biggest child star throughout the 1940s and a number one box office attraction.

Her unforgettable performance as “Tootie” in Vincente Minnelli’s “Meet Me in St. Louis” (1944), with Judy Garland as her co-star, earned her an Academy Award and the position of the highest paid entertainer in the nation.

Her movie credits include “Babes on Broadway,”  “Journey For Margaret,” “ The Canterville Ghost,” and “Unfinished Dance.” Her brilliant work in “The Secret Garden” and “Little Women” immortalized her in tear-filled audiences worldwide. Today, she continues to receive film and television offers. She has guest starred on “Murder She Wrote” and “Tales from the Darkside.” 

 

Festivities at the event will include abundant appetizers, one free glass of champagne or beer, a raffle, no host bar, historical theme games, and surprises.

The public is invited to attend the “Meet Me in Culver City” event. Tickets are $40 per person for Historical Society members; $45 per person for non-members. All proceeds to benefit the Culver City Historical Society’s Archives and Resource Center (ARC) and support its mission in the community.
