MLK Celebration
Thank you for the excellent coverage of Culver City’s Martin Luther King Celebration in your most recent issue.
Dr. King was a remarkable American hero, independent of his assassination. The benefit of his actions and talent reach far beyond the African-American people to our society as a whole.
Speaking as a member of the all-volunteer planning committee, I can tell you that creating the annual MLK event is a labor of love. It is also the product of teamwork between our committee and Culver City staff.
I want to encourage Culver City residents of all ethnic backgrounds and all ages to volunteer to plan the next King celebration. To give a sense of our diversity, a number of us over the years have been Caucasian, and other volunteers in addition to Christians have included Jews and Muslims.
Our volunteers have ranged from seniors to college students and teenagers. We work together essentially for a full year, providing us the opportunity to get to know one another, a definite “perk.”
If any readers of the Culver City News want to learn more about volunteering, they can contact me at rebecca.rona@hotmail.com. I will be happy to answer questions and to forward their names to our City staff.
Again, my thanks for the excellent coverage you gave our event both before and after.

Dog park
Really glad to hear that the dog park will now have lights. Now I won’t have to rush home from work to make sure my dogs get their playtime.

Green airport
Welcome to the modern world Los Angeles airport. The addition of alternative fuel vehicles is a step in the right direction. Now can you stop the expansion plans?
