Dear editor,
I strongly support Laura Chardiet for school board. Chardiet brings many skills and much experience, all of which will make her an effective school board member. She has been a teacher, is an administrator of a large-budget adult-education program, a parent and has been actively involved in bringing new enrichment programs to her children’s elementary school. She has been an active PTA member at her children’s schools and at the council PTA level. Her experience managing a multi-million dollar budget for Los Angeles Unified School District and as a former member of our school districts community budget advisory committee gives her a head start when dealing with the challenges posed by the cuts from Sacramento.
Chardiet is creative, insightful and fast on her feet. She accepts challenges with gusto and knows when to accept restrictions and when to question them. Her life-long involvement with education has given her the deep commitment and passion that I believe will sustain her as a school board member when tough decisions have to be made.
Her years of involvement in education and administration give her the experience needed for the job. But it is her activism on behalf of children that makes her a candidate with the track record and passion necessary to be a great school board member.
Please vote for Laura Chardiet on Nov. 8.
