Dear editor,
I am proud to support Laura Chardiet for the Culver City Board of Education. I have known Laura for more than 10 years, both through our children and through her hundreds of hours volunteering for our Culver City Schools. I have served with her on the board of education’s community budget advisory committee and we worked together in the Culver City Middle School’s snack bar. I know what Laura accomplished as PTA president of La Ballona and through her leadership of the council PTA. Laura has always been a tireless advocate for our kids and schools.
As past chair of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce, I was delighted when the Chamber, in its first-ever endorsement for a candidate for the school board, chose Laura Chardiet and Scott Zeidman. These are two incredibly smart people who have more than proven their profound dedication to our kids and our schools.
Laura, in particular, brings to the board an educator who is not only familiar with the workings of the classroom (she is a former teacher), but also the complexities of managing a multi-million dollar school budget (she administers a $15 million program for Los Angeles Unified School District).
Laura Chardiet is a smart, insightful, resourceful, creative problem solver, qualities which are especially important for a school board member.
I urge all my friends, colleagues and fellow Culver City residents to vote for Laura.
Rich Hibbs,
Culver City
