Jackson Market offers an eclectic atmosphere

Neatly tucked into a quiet tree lined neighborhood, Jackson Market might be one of the best-kept secrets in Culver City. It hosts an array of grocery goods, homemade treats, a full fledged deli counter and a vivid collection of gourmet sodas and specialty drinks.

The market dates back to 1925, during the early establishing years of the Hollywood studio system. Rooted between Sony Studios, which was MGM at the time, and The Culver Studios, the market was more in orientation with a convenience store than what one would experience today.

In 2000, under the ownership of Tony Istwani, a chemical engineer, Jackson Market brought in Nick Conner to oversee the day-to-day operations. As this partnership took seed, the market began reimagining itself as a hybrid to both a New York deli and a French café. Offering an atmospheric element that helps bring a pulse to anyone looking for a new hideaway.

Jackson Market knew that in order to continue it’s upward momentum, that building a strong core relationship with the community around it is vital. Having locally produced vegetables and breads delivered daily along with selling and promoting California based products, not to mention having involvement with charitable organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Jackson Market continues to strongly support both it’s neighbors and it’s neighborhood.

The menu brings to life a wide range of breakfast and lunch options. From french toast and waffles to custom sandwiches and homemade pastries, anyone can satisfy their pallet all in delicious fashion.

For those who prefer to relax, a terra cotta lined path leads customers into a backyard themed patio. Overgrown tree branches dangle down beside hanging candle lanterns where the patio offers sunshine, fresh air and the relaxing sound of a water fountain. People surround the metal tables and chairs looking to escape the mundane and sit for a moment in relatively serenity.

Jackson Market is open seven days a week with the patio closing at 4 p.m. Stop on by whether you are in the neighborhood or not and acquaint yourself with Culver City’s best-kept secret. 4065 Jackson Ave
