Culver City residents will not be asked to vote on a school enhancement bond this year.
The deadline to place measures on the November ballot is Friday, Aug. 9 and there are no plans to hold any special meetings for the Culver City Unified School District Board of Education to vote on a possible bond.
A special meeting will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13, but the bond proposal will not be on the agenda.
Many in both camps- those who wished to see a facilities improvement bond be voted on in the fall and those who wanted more information collected and a bond pursued next year- have thought the initiative was dead weeks ago. But the Aug. 9 deadline officially ends the possibility this year.
“Obviously we’re disappointed,” said CCUDS board member Laura Chardiet. “We all know how critical it is to repair our facilities.”
Superintendent David LaRose said he is trying to schedule a work study session prior to the next regularly scheduled board meeting on Aug. 27 to discuss capital needs, ballot measure options and “shared commitments for next steps.”
