Haute Dog, for the fashionable pup

The sixth annual Haute Dog show takes place at the Skirball Cultural Center in L.A. on Friday, Oct. 1.

The doggie runway fashion show, complete with costumes and couture, benefits Canine Companions for Independence, the non-profit organization that provides assistance dogs for people with disabilities.

According to the event website, “People and their friendly, posh pooches are invited to strut their stuff and model outfits of their owners’ choosing, ranging from Halloween costumes to couture with everything in-between. If the runway is not for you, sit back and watch as dogs take over the catwalk.”

Our organization provides highly trained assistance dogs, free of charge, to kids and adults with physical disabilities,” said Roxane Helstrom, development director, donor and corporate engagement for Canine Companions for Independence.

The organization’s website elaborates. “Established in 1975, Canine Companions has six training centers across the country and is the largest non-profit organization of its kind. Canine Companions is recognized worldwide for the excellence of its dogs, and the quality and longevity of the matches it makes between dogs and people.”

Individual tickets to the Haute Dog show cost $95, or $125 for a show participant The exclusive evening includes cocktails, hor d’oeuvres, the high-end fashion show, a silent auction, and more.

Fashion show participants will also receive runway entry, dog treats, and flavored water.

The event runs between 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Skirball Cultural Center, Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., LA. For more information, visit support.cci.org.
