GSW donates more than 1,200 turkeys to nonprofits

Golden State Water Company (Golden State Water) was pleased to partner with U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Assembly Member Steven Bradford (D-62), Assembly Member Anthony Rendon (D-63), Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson, Jr., Carson City Council Member Mike Gipson and Hawthorne City Council Member Angie Reyes English to distribute more than 1,200 turkeys this holiday season to charitable organizations in the Southwest District that serve individuals and families in need as part of the annual Operation Gobble outreach program.

Golden State Water employees delivered the turkeys throughout November to numerous charitable and community-based organizations in the Southwest District which includes the cities and communities of Athens, Carson, Compton, Del Aire, El Camino Village, El Segundo, Gardena, Gardena Heights, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Redondo Beach and Torrance. Community-based organizations that benefitted from this effort include the South Bay Community Center, City of Gardena Helping Hands and Pacifica House, to name a few.

“Golden State Water cares about the communities we serve and we are proud to continue the Operation Gobble tradition this holiday season,” said Kate Nutting, General Manager for Golden State Water’s Southwest District. “Many Californians will go without a meal this Thanksgiving, and we are proud to help make the holiday a little more special along with our water industry partners.”

Operation Gobble has been a Golden State Water tradition since 1990. This year, Golden State Water distributed more than 8,000 turkeys in more than 75 communities in 10 counties that it serves. Throughout the 24-year tradition, Golden State Water has donated more than 208,000 turkeys to charitable organizations in partnership with legislators who select non-profit organizations that serve those in need.
