Goldberg, Chardiet endorsed by teachers group

The Culver City Federation of Teachers recently endorsed Nancy Goldberg and Laura Chardiet for the Nov. 8 Board of Education election, citing their commitment to and knowledge of the district.

Goldberg is recently retired from 41 years of teaching English at Culver City High School. She was dedicated to opening Advanced Placement English to a more diverse student body. Her success in AP English preparation led to her being scouted by the college board to assist in teacher preparation for the exam.

Chardiet has teaching experience in Los Angeles Unified School District but also brings a parenting perspective – she has children at CCHS and Culver City Middle School, and both are graduates of La Ballona. She is also a veteran PTA member at various CCUSD school sites. In her current position as manager of the adult literacy grant program for LAUSD, she has experience in finding and managing money for schools.

CCFT says it endorses both of these candidates because they know the strengths and challenges of the district from the perspectives of educating and parenting. The federation says it is confident that Goldberg and Chardiet will represent the interests of parents and students on the Culver City School Board.
