Culver City's Amanda (AJ) Jaramillo is on the move during a recent soccer game at Culver City. The Centaurs will host a first round CIF playoff game today at 3 p.m. inside the Jerry Chabola Stadium.

The girls’ championship basketball team will have some company in the 2016 CIF playoffs.  The boys and girls soccer teams, the boys’ basketball team and the girls’ water polo team all made the playoffs this year.  That means the players, coaches, fans, parents, teachers and Athletic Director Tom Salter are doing their jobs.

The girls soccer team, who finished the season with an 15-5-2 overall record and second place in the Ocean league with a record of 7-3 will host their first round game today at 3 p.m. at the Jerry Chabola Stadium.  Scott Mair’s team enters the playoffs with a three game winning streak.  They will face Burbank High school who has a record of 10-4-3 and third place league record of  9-4-1.

The boys’ soccer team finished their season with an overall record of 13-9-3 and they were 6-4 in the Ocean league, which was good enough for third place. They travel to El Dorado high school in Placentia to face the Golden Hawks on Friday at 3 p.m.  The Centaurs enter the playoffs with four game winning streak.

The 16-6 second place Ocean League girls water polo team will travel to Lake Elsinore today to battle  Temescal Canyon high school who are 15-13 overall and 8-0 in the Sunbelt league.  That contest will start at 5 p.m.

The boys basketball team played yesterday (Wednesday) against a very good Los Altos team which ended their regular season with a record of 23-3 overall and 8-2 in their league.  The Centaurs ended their regular season 12-14 overall and 3-7 in the Ocean league.

Senior guard Lindon Walker, who played a great game against Beverly Hills last week hopes the Centaurs can continue to battle until the end. “We have to keep fighting to get a victory.  As a senior I need to be a leader.  When everyone is down you have to try to pick everyone up. I just do whatever I have to do to make my team better.
