For the past couple of years, a local nonprofit organization has been putting smiles on the faces of kids all across southern California.
In partnership with shelters in southern California, Cause for Celebration, a Culver City-based nonprofit organization, provides birthday parties for homeless and foster youth, who are often neglected at birthday time.
With a belief that children should be celebrated throughout the year and not just on holidays, the goal of Cause for Celebration is to ensure that homeless and foster children are not neglected on their birthday.
On the morning of September 9 from 9 a.m. to noon will be a special day for Cause for Celebration as it holds its Seventh Annual Bowling for Birthdays event at Bowlmor Lanes in Santa Monica. The event serves as the organization’s annual fundraiser with the goal of raising funds to continue to provide birthday parties for homeless and foster youth.
Hundreds of supporters and participants are expected to attend the event which will organize participants into teams with each team bowling for one hour.
Teams can choose to bowl in round 1 at 10 a.m. or round 2 at 11 a.m. The event is $20 per person; $15 students, and $10 for children under 12.
As the organization’s largest event, Bowling for Birthdays serves to fund approximately 60 birthday parties per year. At the birthday parties, children are treated to games, crafts, food, music and more.
