A speeding car knocked down power poles in Playa Vista Monday, injuring its driver and closing down a section of Culver Boulevard, police said.
The 2:50. a.m. crash on Culver Boulevard near Lincoln and Jefferson Boulevards left the driver trapped, and he suffered broken facial bones and lacerations, police said.
The crash downed power lines, said Officer R. Jeter of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division. Culver Boulevard was closed for four hours while an investigation was conducted.
“Speed did play a factor,” Jeter said. “An investigation is underway to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol.”
According the the investigating officer, the car was totaled. But the damage didn’t stop there.
“Other vehicles were damaged when their drivers hit downed power poles in the dark,” Jeter said.
