Crews of California, a retailer and food-and-beverage provider at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), donated $30,000 to United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ Creating Pathways Out of Poverty fund. Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl and executives from United Way and the airport attended the presentation.

“Crews of California’s charitable donation to United Way’s Creating Pathways Out of Poverty fund is an admirable achievement,” said Rosendahl. “The money will strengthen our community by helping individuals break the cycle of poverty in the greater Los Angeles area.”

Crews of California raised nearly $25,000 by placing donation boxes in their newsstands throughout LAX during 2010, and then matched more than 20% of the collections to bring the total donation to $30,000.

“I applaud Crews of California’s efforts to raise funds for United Way,” said Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director Gina Marie Lindsey. “The company has gone above and beyond providing customer service to airport passengers by also helping to improve the lives of families in need in Los Angeles.”

United Way’s Creating Pathways out of Poverty fund seeks to end poverty in Los Angeles by focusing on permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless, supporting middle school students to achieve high school graduation, and providing motivated adults with the training and financial tools to thrive.
