Dinah’s Family Restaurant was established in the Los Angeles area in 1959 and quickly became a beloved eatery in the region. Just this year, however, it was forced to move a few blocks and rebrand itself as Dinah’s Kitchen. That said, it’s still owned by the founding family and it’s lost none of its charm.

We’ve been to a couple of restaurants located at 4130 Sepulveda, but we have high hopes that Dinah’s Kitchen is going to survive. It already has a brand well-known to local residents, so it has a good head start.

“Famous for their Fried Chicken and Oven Baked Pancakes, Dinah’s journey began with humble origins. Armed with cherished family recipes passed down through generations, the family’s love for cooking naturally blossomed into a thriving business and L.A staple. With dedication, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to quality, they cultivated a menu that reflects their heritage while also embracing the diverse tastes of their patrons.”

Dinah’s Kitchen is certainly famous for its fried chicken, but that does raise some important questions – namely, what are the other items on the menu like?

With that in mind, we decided to try their special club sandwich. The first thing to note about this sandwich is that it’s really, very big. Three meats – turkey, ham and bacon – are stacked alongside two cheeses plus lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.

It’s impressive that each individual flavor is pronounced. In a single bite, you can isolate the tender white meat, the salty ham and the crispy bacon. The cheeses stand proud, and the salad and mayo ties it all together.

“Over the years, Dinah’s evolved into more than just a place to dine: it became a cherished gathering spot where locals and visitors alike could forge lasting memories over hearty meals, heartfelt conversations, and Dinah’s World Famous Fried Chicken,” they say online. “From milestone celebrations to casual Sunday brunches, Dinah’s has become synonymous with hospitality, warmth, and culinary excellence.”

That warmth certainly shines through, not only in the food but also the surroundings and the staff. A club sandwich, especially one this good, is extremely comforting. They didn’t skimp on the bread, which is fresh and bouncy. The dish is also served with crinkle-cut fries too, and they’re hot and crispy.

Overall, the special club sandwich is proof that, even if they’re famous for their fried chicken and pancakes, Dinah’s Kitchen put all of their love and care into everything.
