Democratic Club plans installation, and award event

The Culver City Democratic Club will hold its monthly meeting on Feb. 8 in the Veterans Memorial Building Rotunda Room 4117 Overland Avenue, Corner of Overland and Culver Blvd. Meetings are free with refreshments. Starts at 7 p.m.

Having three candidates who will be running for Community College Board of Trustees they have already been endorsed by the (LACDP) Los Angeles County Democratic Party. They are for District No. 2 Steve Veres, District No. 4 Dallas Fowler, District No. 6 Gabriel Buelna.

On Sunday Feb. 19, the club will be holding their annual Installation and Awards Luncheon at the Courtyard by Marriott here in Culver City at 1:30-4 p.m. The price per person is $40. Paying at the door will be $45.

Installing the new officers for 2017 will be Culver City Councilmember Thomas Small. Mistress of Ceremonies will be Councilmember Meghan Sahli-Wells. The club’s outgoing Recording Secretary Pat Levinson will be getting the Trudy & Hal Cherness Democrat of the Year Award; outgoing President Khin Khin Gyi will be getting a plaque. Culver City Documentarian Robert Greenwald from Brave New Films will be getting the “Spotlight” Award for Social Conscience.
