Dear editor,
Wednesday, Dec. 14, was the last class for more than 200 senior students of the Culver City Older Adult Physical Fitness, a stretch and exercise program. This class, in existence for 35 years, has been led by Kitty Cuttingham. Many of us have been with Cuttingham for more than 15 years – some for 25 to 35 years. We are all losing our beloved Kitty. We understand she needs to retire.
But we are losing more than her, whom no one can ever replace. We are also losing a very effective routine that works for us. Most of all, we are losing this lovely community of fellow classmates.
The class has been canceled by the Culver City Adult School. They do not have the money to pay for the Veterans Auditorium, where the class exercises. The adult school wants Culver City to take over the class. Culver City does not want to be in charge of this class. Right now, they are negotiating.
We do not know what is going on. It would be very sad if the senior needs are ignored by Culver City. We need to protest the loss of this exercise class.
Theresa Blackwell,
Culver City
