Spring is here and that means season-ending games, matches and track and field meets for Culver City high school. With the regular season coming to an end this week and next week the games, matches and meets are crucial for teams trying to make the CIF playoffs. Culver City high school is fortunate to have five varsity teams in that should make the post season.

The baseball, softball, boys’ volleyball and the girls and boys track and field teams are expecting to not only make the postseason, they want to advance deep into the playoffs.  All five teams have the talent to make a deep run.

The baseball team is currently 15-4 and 4-2 in the Ocean League. Today (Thursday) they travel to Santa Monica to battle the second place Vikings at 3:15 p.m. On Tuesday, May 8, they stay on the road when they play Beverly Hills at 3:15 p.m. Next Thursday the Centaurs finish the regular season at home against Beverly Hills at 3:15 p.m. El Segundo is currently in first place and Culver City is in third.

The Culver City boys’ volleyball team is 15-11 overall and 6-4 in the Ocean league. Their regular season ended last Tuesday with a win over Beverly Hills on the road. The team is in third place in league play and that means they should qualify for the playoffs.

The softball team is currently 12-8-1 overall and 3-1 in league play. They are in second place behind El Segundo and they travel to Hawthorne today (Thursday) and they stay on the road for their next two games when they face Santa Monica on Monday Beverly Hills on Wednesday. Both games start at 3:15 p.m. The Centaurs need to win all three games to stay in second place.

The unbeaten boys and girls track and field teams will be getting ready for the CIF prelims after they finished their regular season last Wednesday in the Ocean league finals at Culver City. The Centaurs have four track and field teams, varsity boys and girls, and the freshman/sophomore boys and girls teams but only the varsity advances to the CIF prelims.
