Culver City Unified School District has partnered with Balfour Beatty Construction to build the new synthetic field and track at Culver City High School.

On April 3, the construction will begin.

“Our athletic fields at the middle school-high school complex are used by literally thousands of students each and every week,” said CCUSD Board of Education President Kathy Paspalis.

“I’m thrilled that the field renovations are finally underway, and large portions of the projects will be up and running for the first day of the 2013-14 academic year.”

Architect, Westberg + White is part of the team to reconstruct the new track and field which include a synthetic grass football field and new synthetic track.

“I think that the proposed renovations to our athletic fields are a great idea and well overdue.  By renovating the fields, all students at both the middle school and high school will be able to use them through their PE classes,” said lacrosse coach Casey Chabola.

In addition to this project, the project team will be working with the district’s solar consultant and Westberg + White to assist with the coordination of the future solar project at Culver City High School, Culver City Middle School, and Farragut Elementary School.

“We are very happy to be moving ahead with the start of construction of our Athletic Fields Renovation,” said Mike Reynolds, CCUSD’s Assistant Superintendent, Business Services.

“Our construction management firm, Balfour Beatty, continues to provide the highest levels of support and service in every aspect of this major project.”

Balfour Beatty Construction has a proven track record in other school districts delivering similar athletic track and field construction.

“These upgrades will have a far extending reach into our community with all the different youth organizations, made up of Culver City Unified School District students, who also use our facilities.  These renovations will make our facilities a place that that both the high school and community can be proud to welcome teams from other schools and areas to play,” said Chabola.

Not only does the company intend on being good neighbors and partners by staying in tune with the needs and concerns of the community, it also looks forward to working closely with Culver City Unified School District and running a clean and safe job for everyone.

On Thurs. March 28 there will be a community meeting to discuss the project at the Culver City Middle School multipurpose room at 7 p.m.
