Police are investigating an incident that they are describing as a “major-injury traffic collision,” which took place at about 5 p.m. on Friday, November 29 at Washington Boulevard and Higuera Street, involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

“Culver City Fire Department personnel rendered medical aid and transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital, where the motorcyclist succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision,” the Culver City Police Department said in a statement. “Culver City Police Traffic Investigators and Forensics responded to investigate the collision. The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.”

Following the collision, Washington Boulevard, Higuera Street, and Robertson Boulevard were closed temporarily while the police processed the scene and collected evidence.

“The initial findings indicate that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Washington Boulevard when they collided with the vehicle, making a turn at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Higuera Street,” the CCPD said. “Investigation into the cause of the collision is still underway. The motorcyclist’s identity is withheld, pending notification to the next of kin.”
