CCPD arrest homicide suspect

On the afternoon of Thursday, June 6, Culver City Police Officers arrested a man believed to be wanted in a homicide case in a neighboring Los Angeles area.

The arrest was made after automated license plate reader camera (ALPR) systems alerted the CCPD to a vehicle wanted by another law enforcement agency in connection with the homicide.

According to a statement released by the police, “When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver fled. After a brief vehicle pursuit, the suspect bailed out of the car near the 5900 block of Green Valley Circle. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.”

The CCPD may feel some vindication, as the use of the automated license plate reader camera (ALPR) has been criticized in some quarters as an overstep and a violation of the rights of the city’s residents.
