Bus awards announced

Culver CityBus operator Steve Sanceri was recently named the Distinguished Operator of the Year for the second straight time. The Culver City Transportation Department and Transit Operations Division awarded Sanceri for his outstanding safety, attendance, punctuality and customer service record. He also received the Earl Barr Bus Operator of the Year Award in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.

This year’s Earl Barr Culver CityBus Operator of the Year Award was given to Bus Operator Manual Flores. The award has been given out over the past 22 years to the operator that has driven safely – having no accidents or incidents – arrived to work on-time on a regular basis and required no discipline. Flores previously received the award in 2007.

The Equipment Maintenance & Fleet Services Division announced that 30-year employee, equipment maintenance supervisor Ernst “Ernie” Mulder was the recipient of the Maintenance Employee of the Year. Mulder is a native of Holland, where he learned his trade as a welder/fabricator.
