On Sunday, Sept. 11, motorcycle riders will band together to support veterans. The “Bikers Helping Veterans’ 9/11 West Coast Motorcycle Charity Ride” will benefit the new Veterans Homes of California in West Los Angeles.
“This will be a wonderful way to remember those men and women in the U.S. Military who sacrifice so much for us every day and to honor those men and women who died on that fateful September day 10 years ago,” said Peter J. Gravett, secretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs.
The ride, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, is not just for motorcyclists. The public is invited to celebrate “Patriot Day,” which will include a flag ceremony. A $25 entrance fee will be donated to the center and there will be food, raffles, music, vendors and other activities. All proceeds will go to the Welfare and Recreation Fund of the residents of the home.
The Veterans Home of California is a 396-bed, long-term care facility designed to preserve respect and dignity for residents.
