Thanksgiving Feast set for Culver-Palms Church

If you’d like to be with Culver-Palms United Methodist Church family members and friends for Thanksgiving Dinner, join us , Nov. 22 at 2 p.m.

You do not need to be a member of the church in order to attend; everyone is welcome.  Please bring a side dish to share.  Contact the church office at (310) 390-7717 to say how many will be attending and what you plan to bring as a side dish.

            Culver-Palms United Methodist Church is located at 4464 Sepulveda Blvd. (3 blocks south of Culver Blvd.).

Free concert on Nov. 18 at Veterans Memorial Auditorium

The first in a series of FREE concerts performed by the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra features the world premier of Orbit: A Symphonic Fantasy by Karim Elmahmoudi, composer-in-residence, who created Orbit to honor the space shuttle Endeavour and the spirit of past and future explorers and visionaries.

The concert will be held in Veterans Memorial Auditorium, which has been recently renovated and is the centerpiece of the Veterans Memorial complex in Culver City.

This performance is free to the public and has been made possible in part by the Culver City Performing Arts Grant Program with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

The LA Doctors Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1953 to enrich the southern California communities through the healing power of music.

Originally composed of only medical professionals, the orchestra now welcomes all accomplished musicians.

Up until his retirement in 2003, Guest Conductor David Weiss was Principal Oboe of the LA Philharmonic for thirty years.

He has been ‘cover conductor’ for LADSO for the past several years; has played on the soundtracks of more than 150 motion pictures; is currently professor of Oboe + Woodwind Chamber Music, USC Thornton School of Music, and Faculty, CSU Long Beach.

Regular Conductor/Music Director, Dr. Ivan Shulman, is on a voluntary medical mission in rural Nepal.

Karim Elmahmoudi  award-winning composer of more than 100 musical pieces from solo piano to large scale symphonic works;  creating the music for an upcoming science fiction film.

Technology Summit – Introduction to Microsoft Windows 8

 

The Culver City Chamber is pleased to announce a new series of seminars, free of charge to Chamber members only and their employees.

This series will center on the technology you need for your business, with answers to questions about technology issues facing businesses in the 21st Century.

This month Windows 8 concepts, Windows 8 new look and feel, navigating the new desktop, Windows 8 App store and finding/installing new apps will be discussed.

The Tech Summit is scheduled for the third Thursday of every month. We will start sharply at 12:00 NOON and end in 59 minutes.

Bring all your questions, and a brown bag lunch. There are over 20 restaurants at Westfield if you want to arrive early and buy your lunch.

The Chamber will be collecting canned or boxed food to be donated to a local nonprofit S.A.V.E.S – St. Augustine’s Emergency Service (non-sectarian).
