Annual Holiday Tower Lighting Ceremony

The PRCS Department’s annual Tower Lighting Ceremony is coming up on Friday, Dec. 7, at the Veterans Memorial Building.

Every year the community gathers just outside next to the filmstrip fountain to watch from below as the “tree” surrounding Vets Tower is illuminated.

The ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with entertainment by children in the City’s various Pre-K activities, choral pieces by the Culver City High School boys’ and girls’ choir, and other entertainment.

After illuminating the tree, Santa will arrive on a fire truck and there are photo opportunities inside the Rotunda Room with Santa along with holiday crafts and refreshments. This is a free family event.

Holiday Lineup

In an effort to spread holiday cheer and goodwill this season, Westfield Culver City has teamed up with Culver-Palms Family and Westchester Family YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club of Venice and the Bill Foundation, which rescues dogs from local shelters and places them in homes, for a “Festival of Trees.”

From Nov. 17 through Dec. 24, the trees will be on display throughout the center and the local community can vote for their favorite decorations via Facebook.

The first place organization will receive a $3,000 donation from Westfield Culver City, second place will receive $2,000 and third place will receive $1,000.

As part of Westfield Culver City’s overall holiday festivities, shoppers can participate in a scavenger hunt to find ornament stickers on retailer store windows and other areas of the mall.

Participants will be challenged to spot and photograph five ornaments using their smart phones or cameras and then visit the concierge to receive a limited edition holiday ornament for their own Christmas tree at home. Westfield Culver City: 6000 Sepulveda Blvd.
