Centaur alumnus Gregory Williams, who graduated last week from Los Angeles Harbor College after earning numerous honors as a soccer goaltender, will present his All-American certificate this week to Culver City High School varsity soccer coach Dave Sanchez.
Williams graduated from Culver City High School as a four-year varsity soccer player and two-year varsity football player. He garnered All-American, All-West Region and All-Conference awards in his two years at Harbor, while carrying a 3.2 grade point average. He signed a few weeks ago with California State University Los Angeles.
“Our whole family couldn’t be prouder of him. He has been an amazing soccer player, brother and son. I just can’t complain, and now he is a great student also,” said Williams’ mother, Culver City High School alumnus Annette Melendez.
Sanchez is trying to raise money for the soccer program by spearheading the first Culver City Food Truck Fest on the last Friday of each month, starting Friday, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Culver City High School campus. Car or walk-in access to the blacktop will be through the Huron Avenue gate (between Harter Avenue and Elenda Street) off Braddock Drive.
“We will have numerous choices for different tastes from the simple to the more exotic, yet delicious for all,” said Sanchez, who is asking for a donation of $2 per person.
