Yes, that’s really the name of the band performing on Thursday, July 20 at the Cinema Bar – A.C. and the Hip Replacements. The A.C. is frontman Andrew Cappalletti, and his relatively new band deals in country blues with a wonderfully rough, outlaw-ish Americana edge. Cappalletti spoke to the News about what he has in store for Culver City…
When did you start playing and performing?
I have been playing / performing since the late ‘70s. I began putting this band together during COVID.The current lineup has been with me since last summer.
Describe your sound/style?
We call it “Rockin’ Country Blues.” Sweet vocal harmonies accompanied by guitars, violin, harmonica, resonator, AND a big ol’ gut bucket.
What are your career highlights so far?
I sat in with Steve Miller once. That was pretty cool.
Have you performed at the Cinema Bar before?
This band has not performed at the Cinema prior to now. Individual members have played there with other acts in the past.
What can the audience expect from the set this time?
We play originals and our own interpretation of cover tunes, in the vein of Guy Clark, Merle, The Dead, SRV, with some Floyd, Clapton, Seger, and more on our set list.
What else do you have coming up?
We are playing at ArtBarLA in Mar Vista on Sunday July 23rd, and at TR!P in Santa Monica on August 5th.
A.C. and the Hip Replacements perform at 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 20 at the Cinema Bar. Go to thecinemabar.com for more information.
