Abandoned and abused animals at Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals Los Angeles, spcaLA, an independent non-profit, will benefit by public donations of needed items this weekend.

PetSmart’s nine participating locations are facilitating the gathering of the donations. Donors can purchase an item at PetSmart, or bring in new, unused items from home. “Because we are a local, independent nonprofit, not a chapter of any group; we rely 100 percent on community support,” spcaLA President Madeline Bernstein said. “We are honored that our local PetSmart stores chose to give back to spcaLA.”

Participating PetSmarts include location in: Culver City, West L.A., El Segundo, Hawthorne, South Torrance, Torrance, Downey, Compton, Signal Hill and Pico Rivera. spcaLA’s most needed items include: soft dog treats, durable dog toys, Kongs ®, and Busy Buddy® Squirrel Dudes, as well as canned and dry food, especially puppy food, kitten food, and all stages food. PetSmart is conducting this pet food drive through its “PetSmart Gives Back” initiative.
