A special grand opening will take place at QART.COM on Sunday, Dec. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. QART.COM, located at 480 W. Washington Blvd. in Marina del Rey, will host QART.COM Unveiled, benefiting the Stan Lee Foundation.
“Everything just came together,” QART.COM CEO Eli Weisman said, who started the company with his brother Noah. “We were dealing with the company that has the license for Marvel Artworks and they made the introduction for us to get not only the artwork, but to have Stan come in and sign the artwork.”
From now until the day of the grand opening, 100 percent of the proceeds from Marvel Artworks limited-edition artist proof auction sales, custom framed and signed by Stan Lee, will be donated to the Stan Lee Foundation.
QART.COM, an online fine art gallery and auction site, recently opened their first showroom, which stands at 7,500 square feet. The grand opening will feature works benefiting the Stan Lee Foundation, as well as other artwork from a variety of well-known artists, and independent artists and photographers. The grand opening will even showcase a dark room featuring glow-in-the-dark art.
“We will have seven or eight of the artist present at our event, a few of who will be doing live paintings. And numerous works from artists who use a wide range of styles and mediums,” Weisman said. “The event will be a lot of fun and we are excited to be raising funds for the Stan Lee Foundation.”
QART.COM was launched in 2006 as an online site that carries thousands of unique pieces, as well as entire editions, and is the largest volume marketplace for fine art on the internet.
Since its inception, QART.COM has functioned as an online gallery and auction site that carries works from famous artists such as Peter Max, Tom Everhart and Wyland, as well as independent artists. Finding the pieces of art to carry is never easy but usually fun, especially for Eli Weisman who enjoys attending art shows.
While the business is based on selling art, for QART.COM it is also important that their work and efforts influence the creation and exposure of art.
“It’s not about the money… of course we don’t want to lose out on it,” Eli Weisman said. “We are all about promoting the arts, that is the fun thing about what we do. We can try a huge variety of different things, new artists all the time and based on the success of it, they will be continued.”
The Stan Lee Foundation would not be the first recipient of funds raised by QART.COM as several weeks ago they raised funds for a local temple. The goal this week is to raise $50,000 for the Stan Lee Foundation by the time the grand opening ends.
“Stan Lee was totally with it and agreed to give us extra signings, and donated the signatures,” Weisman said. “The timing was perfect.”
Finding raw talent happens more often than not.
“It happens all the time to be honest. When things are calm and we have the time to attend different shows, I like to see what people are coming up with and see if I can find some cool art.”
