EverWalk™, the biggest walking initiative in American history, is set to spark an epic revolution by challenging people to get up, get out and get moving. Founded by Diana Nyad, the only person to swim non-stop from Cuba to Florida, along with her long-time expedition leader Bonnie Stoll, this powerful movement is for everybody.

EverWalk presents a series of City2City treks through the beautiful outdoor corridors of America. Starting with a walk from Los Angeles to San Diego between Oct. 23-29 (see LA-SD schedule below), participants can walk the entire 145-mile journey over seven days along the coast of Southern California. These “Epic Walkers” will walk approximately 20 miles a day to achieve their goal.

The opening day 20-mile walk kicks off Sunday, Oct. 23 from Santa Monica to Redondo Beach.

Day 2 (Mon Oct. 24) – Redondo Beach to Long Beach (19 miles)

–       Day 3 (Oct. 25) – Long Beach to Costa Mesa (24 miles)

–       Day 4 (Oct. 26) – Costa Mesa to Laguna Niguel (20 miles)

–       Day 5 (Oct. 27) – Laguna Niguel to San Clemente (19 miles)

–       Day 6 (Oct. 28) – Oceanside to Del Mar (25 miles)

–       Day 7 (Oct. 29) – FINISH – La Jolla to Point Loma (11 miles)

Many health experts have said “sitting is the new smoking,” and Nyad and Stoll intend, over the next five years, to reverse the collective ill effects of America having become the most sedentary country on the planet. Beginning with an EverWalk from Los Angeles to San Diego, Nyad and Stoll have planned a series of treks across America in the coming months and years, leading up to a massive cross-country journey from Los Angeles to D.C. in 2020, with the goal of at least one million walkers participating.

Three years ago, on Labor Day 2013, EverWalk’s founder, 64-year-old Diana Nyad, stepped onto Smathers Beach in Key West, Florida after swimming the 110.86 miles from Cuba to Florida, becoming the first person in history to do so. The 53-hour crossing – the first made without the aid of a shark cage – commanded the No. 1 Google search position in the world during those historic two days. As one of the world’s most accomplished athletes, Diana is looking to spread her message and passion nationwide with EverWalk.

EverWalk is for a people of all ages. There will be a number of distance options that challenge all levels of fitness and accommodate various levels of commitment. There is a way for everyone – from seasoned athletes to beginners – to take part in this Epic Revolution™. Participants can walk as short as five miles, portions of any one day, multiple days, or the whole epic distance. EverWalk’s Facebook page will broadcast their walks exclusively on Facebook Live.

The inaugural EverWalk event will kick off five years of long public walks and, more importantly, spark a lifelong movement. EverWalk is for EVERYBODY.

The route, designed by the EverWalk staff and volunteers, includes rest stops every five miles offering food, water, moment of inspiration and other services to empower the EverWalk community to complete their journey. Additionally, Epic Walkers will be cheered on and joined by celebrities, sponsors and local elected officials to help reach the finish line.
