City receives state award for Fiesta La Ballona

The Parks Recreation and Community Services Department has received the California Parks and Recreation Society’s State Award of Excellence for the Marketing Campaign for Culver City’s Fiesta La Ballona.

Fiesta La Ballona presents three days of free, live music and dancing as part of Culver City’s annual “Party in the Park.” Last year’s celebration took place in August and was hosted at Veterans Park.

The California Park & Recreation Society’s Awards Program recognizes the outstanding achievements of agencies and individuals in the areas of community improvements and programming, facility design and park planning, marketing and communications, and professional and citizen leadership.

Winners in any category receive statewide recognition at the 2015 CPRS Conference in Sacramento to take place in March, a general session awards video also to take place in March, a presentation, plaque and publicity photograph at the 2015 CPRS Annual Awards Banquet, statewide recognition in the 2015 Spring issue of Parks & Recreation and on the CPRS website, Electronic 2014 Award of Excellence logo for agency promotional purposes, a 2014 award winner ribbon to wear and sample press release for award recipient to distribute to local or regional media.

Produced by the City of Culver City, local sponsors, and almost a hundred volunteers, Fiesta La Ballona has become a tradition and city event that locals as well as residents from surrounding communities look forward to every year.

Fiesta La Ballona is produced by the City of Culver City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Fiesta La Ballona Committee. Through the committee a wide-range of performers and vendors are coordinated for the event. From local and international music groups, to some of the city’s favorite eateries, Fiesta La Ballona provides a little bit of something for everyone in attendance.

Through a variety of local sponsors Fiesta has become the city’s can’t-miss event and has earned the recognition of state officials.
