Race to Japan

The race is on. Runners are wanted to race in a Japanese marathon. Anyone who has completed a full marathon in less than four hours and 10 minutes within the last year, could be on the way to the Far East.

The Culver City Sister City Committee needs one male and one female as representatives in the 19th annual Osaka Senshu International Marathon on Feb. 19, 2012. The event is presented by the city of Kaizuka, Japan, one of Culver City’s sister cities.

The two runners will stay with a family in Kaizuka and most expenses, including airfare, meals, and sightseeing will be paid for. The winners, in turn, will host a Kaizuka runner in March, who will be participating in the L.A. Marathon.

The Osaka Senshu marathon was created to raise money following the destruction of the devastating April 11 earthquake. The Culver City Sister City Committee will accept donations between now and February, 2012, to be presented in Kaizuka.

Contact Kathleen McCann, Kaizuka Chair at ccscc.inc@gmail.com to request an application or download at culvercitysistercitycommittee.org. Applications must be received no later than Oct. 20.
