Husband and wife duo Pricey Diggs performs at the Cinema Bar on Sunday, a 4 p.m. matinee show. One half of the pair, Mark McMillen, told the News about what they have in store for Culver City…

When did you start playing and performing?

I have been playing for most of my life, and my wife Annie started playing and singing seven years ago. We formed the duo Pricey Diggs when my touring gig with the late great Bobby Caldwell ended, and have been playing around LA and the Central Coast ever since.

Describe your sound/style?

Our sound encompasses many styles and genres from old school R&B, Americana, reggae, yacht rock, country, classic rock, and jazz. We play everything from Steely Dan, Bonnie Raiit, Stevie Wonder, Chris Stapleton, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Hall and Oates, Al Green, The Eagles, Sheryl Crow, and many original songs of ours.

What are your career highlights so far?

I toured with Bobby Caldwell for nearly 30 years, and highlights include playing the Hollywood Bowl, The Greek Theatre, Radio City, and yearly trips to Japan. Highlights for our duo Pricey Diggs include four tours up the coast to the Pacific NW in our 1981 Toyota Sunrader camper, playing the legendary Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, and doing livestreams from home for 21 weeks during COVID, as well as writing and recording a CD during that time.

What recorded music is available — particularly the most recent?
We have a CD called Home Free, which is available on our website priceydiggs.com as well as on most digital streaming platforms. New recordings can also be found on the website.

Have you performed at the Cinema Bar before?

We have not played the Cinema Bar before but are really looking forward to it.

What can the audience expect from the set this time?

We will be playing for four hrs. (4-8 p.m.) so we will cover a lot of ground musically with a mix of covers and originals.

What else do you have coming up?

We will be at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo November 16,  7-10 p.m. and will be up the Central Coast in SB (private), Cambria, November 23, SLO November 24, and Morro Bay November 25. Details can be found on the website under Live Dates. We are also currently booking a 7-8 week tour to the NW in August/September.
