The Culver City Police Department released a statement via Facebook on Friday, June 23, to inform the public of an “arrest of interest” following a traffic stop.
The incident took place on the evening of Thursday, June 22 at the 3800 block of Sepulveda Blvd, where the vehicle in question was stopped by officers for “hazardous moving violations.”
“During their investigation the officers noticed the handle of a handgun under the driver’s seat,” reads the statement. “Upon further investigation, the Officers located two loaded handguns and one loaded shotgun. Additionally, Officers located electronic devices, numerous credit cards, several identifications, two ski masks, various car keys and burglary tools. It also should be noted the vehicle’s ignition was tampered with indicating it was possibly stolen that evening.”
The person in the vehicle was arrested and booked at CCPD. “The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration,” officers say, as they enjoyed the fact that these vehicles have been taken off the streets.
CCPD requests help identifying shooter
During the early morning of Tuesday, June 20, Culver City Police Department officers responded to reports of gunshots in the parking lot of Raintree Plaza, located in the 10700 block of Jefferson Boulevard.
According to a statement from the CCPD, released via their social media channels on Wednesday, June 21, “Yesterday morning, at about 12:23 am, CCPD Officers responded to a call of gunshots heard in the parking lot of Raintree Plaza, 10700 block of Jefferson Blvd. In less than two minutes, CCPD arrived on the scene and located several expended 9mm ammunition casings. Officers conducted an area check for the suspect, who was not located.”
