The Sage Plant Based Bistro & Brewery is sadly closing its Culver City location on Sepulveda Boulevard. The local mini chain has locations in Agoura Hills, Echo Park and Pasadena, but not in Culver City for much longer.

As reported by vegoutmag.com, Culver residents will still be able to order from Sage on a grab-and-go basis.

“Citing rising costs, government restrictions, and a lease end, Sage has decided to change its strategy for serving guests delicious plant-based meals,” reads the story. “Instead of the sit-down experience SoCal guests may be used to, the Sage Culver City location will convert to a pickup and to-go model. That means you will still be able to indulge in its irresistible pizzas, soups, tacos, and salads—just from the comfort of your own couch.”

The CCN reviewed the restaurant in October 2022, and wrote that, “The idea of ‘farm to table’ is very appealing in this world of overly processed foods. Of course, that doesn’t always mean that the food is healthy, but you stand a better chance of finding something not overflowing with salt, sugar and chemicals… This writer isn’t a vegan or even a vegetarian, but it’s undeniable that vegan food has come a long way over the past decade or so. Chefs have gotten more and more inventive, and it’s good to take a break from meat and dairy every now and again, both for health and environmental reasons.”

A statement on Sage’s social media reads, “We are no longer open for dine-in in Culver City. Please come see us in Echo Park, Pasadena, and Agoura Hills. Thank you for all your support!”
