Preseason games are a time to evaluate talent that you have faith in. They would not be in training
camp if the team did not believe they could get the job done. That’s what makes cuts to trim the
roster so hard. Everyone at this level of professional football is a good football player but one or two plays in a preseason game may determine whether they will make the final cut.

The Rams play the Houston Texans on Friday at 7 p.m. at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood in their second preseason game. Last Saturday they beat the Chargers 29-22 in their first preseason game. During that game several players stepped into the star spotlight.

One of those players was a 6’3 wide receiver name Lance McCutcheon from Montana State. He caught five passes against the Chargers for 87 yards including two touchdowns. One of his touchdowns he leaped between two Chargers defenders and ran down the left sidelines for a long catch and run. If McCutcheon makes the team, he will also have to play on special teams.

“I would say yes, he’s a very realistic candidate to make the roster,” said Rams head coach Sean McVay about McCutcheon.

Another player that had a good game against the Chargers was backup quarterback Bryce Perkins. Perkins completed 10 of 17 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 39 yards on eight carries. On one of his carries he broke four tackles.

The defending Super bowl champions have a tough schedule, but they also have a great support system. From the owner to the front office and an outstanding coaching staff led by McVay they will be a tough team to beat. McVay preaches “Me Not Me.”
