In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Culver City Unified School District is hosting a virtual informational session for kindergarten and transitional kindergarten parents today starting at 5 p.m. The session will go over several key topics that parents will need to know when enrolling their child, including permit information, a curriculum presentation, and information for dual language learning.

In order to enroll for the kindergarten program, a child must be five years old, or will be five on or before Sept. 1. For the transitional kindergarten program, a child is eligible if they will be five between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2.

The first priority online enrollment window will be open from Feb. 1 to March 5, while the late online enrollment will be open from April 12 to June 7. Late enrollments for Transitional Kindergarten through fifth grade are not guaranteed placement at their home school if space is not available. If a home school is at capacity, the student will be assigned to another CCUSD elementary school.

For those looking to get into the dual language program, the enrollment window will be open from Feb. 10 to March 10, with no late window for enrollment.

In order to enroll your child, parents or guardians must present the following information in their enrollment application:

  • Verification of Parent/Guardian Identity (Government-issued photo ID)
  • Proof of residence in Culver City USD or an Interdistrict Permit
  • Proof of date of birth – birth certificate (with parent’s name preferred) or passport.
  • Current Immunizations and Report of Health Examination for School Entry completed by a physician.

For the dual language programs, interviews will be conducted from Feb. 16 to March 17. Applicants will be contacted and scheduled for an interview. If an applicant receives a qualifying score, they will be entered in the lottery for students who speak the program target language.

If an applicant does not meet the criteria, they will be entered into the English lottery.

If a family would like to switch schools within the system, an intradistrict permit will be required in the application as well.

Residents who live in CCUSD-covered addresses enrolled or pre-enrolled by March 5 are eligible to apply for a K-5 transfer (from one Culver City school to another) from Feb. 10 to March 10.
