The Culver City Sister City Committee (CCSCC) would like to introduce the new participants in the 2020 Senshu Marathon in Osaka, Japan. Steve Wisner and Kim Caplan have been chosen to represent Culver City as guests of our Sister City, Kaizuka City in Japan.

Wisner and Caplan will be heading to Kaizuka in mid-February to run the 27th Annual Senshu Marathon. In response, they will also be hosting two Japanese runners from Kaizuka, when they visit Culver City to run the LA Marathon in March.

The Culver City –Kaizuka Marathon Exchange has been coordinating this running partnership for over 25 years, with past participants being Culver City mayors, employees, and residents.

Wisner is the General Manager of the DoubleTree Los Angeles Westside Hotel in Culver City and is a lifelong runner. He is excited about visiting Japan and meeting representatives from our sister city in Kaizuka, Japan. A member of the Marathon Maniacs Club, Wisner has competed in over 68 marathons, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Honolulu and Athens, Greece.

Wisner has been a contributing member to CCSCC, and his hotel has hosted numerous Sister City events the past several years.  He is also a board member of the Culver City Chamber of Commerce.

“It is truly a privilege to be chosen to represent Culver City in the marathon exchange program. It has been a lifetime dream of mine to visit Japan and being able to run in the KIX Senshu International Marathon is a great honor and I look forward to meeting the wonderful people and exploring the beautiful city of Kaizuka.”

Caplan is a Financial Controller for Watt Investment Partners, a real estate company on the Westside. The Senshu Marathon will be her second marathon. She is an outdoor enthusiast and spends her free time running, hiking, paddle boarding, cycling and enjoying the wonderful SoCal weather; a perfect day for her consists of sunshine and adventure.

Caplan is very grateful to the Culver City Sister City Committee for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that combines her love of travel, exploration, and fitness. “I am thrilled to be a participant in such a wonderful event and represent Culver City. Having been born and raised in Los Angeles and I value the ambassador role with past experiences serving as a global ambassador to the Australian program during my engineering school.”
