Dear editor,

The “Random acts of kindness” column by Julie Lugo Cerra in the Sept. 8 edition of the News  asked “How would Harry Culver feel about his city now?” The answer, hopefully, is as many of us do: a sense of pride – goose bumps even, when we see a photo like the one included.

Thank you, Julie Lugo Cerra, for this reminder of why we were drawn to Culver City: neighbors. The picture of this truly amazing neighbor says it all. I hope the boys and girls in our “Mayberry incubator” stay or at least find roots and neighborly lessons from people like the “phantom gardener” (who, if the truth be told, is a true homegrown success story.)

Angela Dyborn,

Culver City
