Dear editor,
After reading Vice Mayor Scott Malsin’s self-serving three-part commentary [Opinion section, Culver City News, Aug. 25, Sept. 1, Sept. 8], riddled with predictions of impending doom should public employee pension cuts come into effect, indicates that he is out of touch and just can’t get it.
In these financially troubled times, when cities all across the nation are being forced to choose between maintaining their basic infrastructure or protecting the imagined rights of the privileged class in the public sector, the choice is clear. Bring sanity back to the budget process and force City Hall to live within its means the way families and businesses do. Addressing it as a public relations problem and treating residents like they were babes in the woods will no longer cut it.
To Malsin’s scare tactics of impending doom, I hereby summarize my assessment: nuts.
Egon Monostory,
Culver City
